My Guess is Eastern Towhee? some sort of Towhee, but I am not the best at identifying birds, I keep intending to purchase a bird book for Mississippi Birds, but alas, it has not happened. I see these from time to time, mostly in the underbrush scratching ,hopping about similar to a chicken. Pretty birds I think. I managed to snap a photo finally.

Care to Guess?
My Guess is Eastern Towhee? some sort of Towhee, but I am not the best at identifying birds, I keep intending to purchase a bird book for Mississippi Birds, but alas, it has not happened. We saw this same type of bird yesterday and wondered what it was. I guessed a towhee too.
They are pretty, but don't know what they are.
Hmm coloring is right for a male eastern towhee (the one on my blog is female). the shape seems off, but perhaps this is a juvenile??
